The National Institute of Amazonian Research (Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia or INPA) is a public educational and research institution in Manaus, Brazil. It was founded in 1952, with the purpose of providing a further knowledge about the Brazilian Amazon Region. Most part of the research focus on the main topics of ecology, molecular ecology, zoology, botany, tropical agriculture and tropical pisciculture. A collection of Amazonian vertebrate and invertebrate taxa, and vascular plants are also found in the institute.
It also publishes a scientific journal, named Acta Amazônica.
